Saba synthetic Fiber Design 102: Black Matai
What makes our wooden handles different from other shaving brushes is that the wood used for the handles has been stabilized in a process which involves the wood being placed in a vacuum chamber with heat activated resin which fills all the wood pores. The wood is then heated to 93 degrees Celsius which hardens the resin inside the wood. This makes the wood 40% heavier and very stable. We then turn the handle. The last process is to then cover the handle with a two-part resin which brings out the beautiful grain and creates a water repellent and very stable handle which will give many years of service.

Knot size 22 mm Introducing this NZ handcrafted shaving brush using the finest synthetic hair inset into a handle made of BLACK MATAI. The handle has been made out wood salvaged from a river, and over a long time the wood has turned a dark brown from the minerals in the water. This timber could be very ancient.

I have been using a 22 mm knot in this synthetic fiber inset into one of our handle now for many months it is the only brush I use now. It has back bone, keeps its shape, the fibers spread easily on the face and it creates an amazing amount of foam with a good quality shaving soap or cream and work's great with our shaving cream.
